Nexperia has introduced a new 12-channel, 40V LED driver IC, especially made for automotive lighting. Such as tail lights, brake lights, signal lights, and in-cabin illumination, it is AEC-Q100 qualified and ASIL-B compliant.
One of the biggest advantages of the NEX13120FPC-Q100 is its exceptional thermal performance. It has a low dropout voltage of just 600 mV at 100 mA, which means less power is wasted, saving 15 mW per channel and keeping it 5°C cooler than similar LED drivers. This makes it more efficient and long-lasting.
Each of its 12 channels can provide up to 100 mA of adjustable current, and if more power is needed, multiple channels can be combined. Additionally, it uses phase-shift PWM dimming, which helps reduce power fluctuations and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
This LED driver makes high-speed communication easy with a UART over CAN digital interface, handling data rates up to 2 Mb/s and 27 node addresses, perfect for long-distance connections in a car’s lighting system.
It also comes with smart diagnostic features to keep things running smoothly. It can detect issues like broken LEDs, short circuits, or wiring problems, helping prevent failures. And if the CAN bus connection is lost, a built-in watchdog automatically switches the device to fail-safe mode, keeping the system secure and reliable.
Designed to withstand harsh conditions, the NEX13120FPC-Q100 works flawlessly in extreme temperatures, from -40°C to +150°C. It comes in a heat-efficient 24-pin package, ensuring reliable performance even in demanding environments.
For Products that don’t need ASIL-B safety compliance, Nexperia also offers the NEX13120PC-Q100, the same powerful LED driver, just without the extra safety features.
